Let’s talk about desk trinkets.
If you’re like me, and you plan on having your own workspace (or you already have one), then you may be interested in desk trinkets. I love them. So much. I have a bookmark folder full of nerdy little things that I want to have on my desk, or around my room. While most of what I look at is Batman related (because c’mon…it’s Batsie), I have an interest in so many things that when I find something in relation to said things (like Funko Pop’s Supernatural figurines), I sort of flip out with this…geeky need to have these little…insignificant…toys. I’ll call them toys, because that is what they are.
Sooooo, I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy this past weekend. Really good movie. I hope they make a sequel. But, I get to the end of the movie…and there is a dancing baby Groot. For those of you who have seen the movie… Yeah. You know the amount of cuteness that I’m talking about.
For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, Groot is this large Tree-Man, character in GotG. He only has one repetitive line, but it’s a good line. I don’t know, it was just a good character to me.
So. Baby Groot. I’m freaking out. I’m tugging on my boyfriend’s sleeve and I’m mimicking the dance that baby Groot is doing. And the whole time I’m saying, “I need one. You don’t understand, I need one.” Just, full on, nerding out over this fictional character. So much so, that on the car ride home, I’m on my phone looking up baby Groot figurines.
FUNKO POP, YOU NEVER LET ME DOWN!
Of course, they are making one! I can’t even express how excited I was to see this:
How cute is that?! I was going to go with the one from Funko Pop. It’s adorable, and it’s only $11 on Amazon Prime (free two-day shipping! Woot woot!).
BUT, then I saw this one, and it’s far cuter:
Now, though the second image looks like a Funko Pop creation, it’s not. That figurine was made by Saber Fire Tiger, and he takes commissions and make figurines that are similar to what Funko Pop does. His creations are also wayyy more expensive. Somewhere around $70-$90. While it will cost me more…I am just in love that with that little Groot! Too cute!
Oh, also, loved the movie so much that I’m not hunting down Guardians of the Galaxy comics. It’s super exciting! Ventured on to Marvel’s site and they have just about all of the GotG comics. However, the easiest way to obtain them from the site is to buy a digital copy. While that sounds…fun…? I don’t have an e-reader, and I don’t do much reading on my laptop or phone. When it comes to comics, I’m much more interested in the actual print, and to get that I’d have to find one at my local comic book store…? Frustration. I mean, on one hand it’s always fun to go to a comic book store and hunt down what you’re looking for, because you can always find something new and interesting. But, in this case, I want the print of the first comic…and I want it now. I guess what I’m getting at is, it would be very nice if I could buy it from the Marvel site and have it shipped to my home.
Anywho, if I ever get my hands on these comics…I’ll be sure to…blog…about it.
